Powering intelligence
for the planet

We're building data centers in space — a constellation of satellites that run AI servers, powered by solar and cooled by the vacuum of space.

Our Mission →
The Problem

Earth's grid can't
keep up

We are building the most powerful compute in history on top of century-old grid infrastructure. Data centers will need double today's power by 2030. Every gigawatt today is a fight — for power, for land, for permits. There is no easy path forward on Earth.

The Solution

Harnessing solar
at scale

In Low Earth Orbit, the sun delivers 1,361 W/m² continuously — no atmosphere, no weather, no night. This is more than 5x the energy density of ground-based solar.

The Advantage

Infinite passive
cooling

Space is a perfect heat sink at near absolute zero. We can cool servers with radiative passive thermal management — heat rejection at zero operating cost.

Roadmap

From pathfinder to constellation

2027

Pathfinder

Our first mission demonstrates AI inference compute in low Earth orbit. A high-performance GPU module aboard a hosted payload on a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch — validating radiative shielding and the thermal architecture of the nucleus of Orbital nodes.

2028

Orbital-1

Purpose-built satellite and compute payload with multiple GPU nodes, high-bandwidth ground links, and commercial inference availability. The first prototype node of the Orbital constellation.

Company

Our mission is to power intelligence to unlock human potential

Orbital is building the first commercial AI compute infrastructure in Low Earth Orbit — purpose-built for the energy and thermal constraints of space.

The opportunity is planetary-scale: terrestrial data center growth is constrained by power grid capacity. Space removes that constraint entirely.

We're backed by a16z speedrun and an incredible group of investors and operators who have built and scaled companies at the frontier of hardware, energy, and compute.
